Born and raised in Fairbanks, Daniel Heckman is the Regulatory Manager for Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA), where he is responsible for providing regulatory and compliance oversight with accounting principles, federal and state laws, and industry standards. He serves as GVEA’s principal liaison with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska and supports GVEA’s interests in legislative and regulatory policies at the state and federal level. He also serves as GVEA’s primary director on the Railbelt Reliability Council. Prior to his time at GVEA, he worked in regulatory affairs and contract compliance for Doyon Utilities, LLC.

Daniel graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a B.A. in Political Science, and a B.A. in History. He then received his juris doctor from the Gonzaga University School of Law. Daniel has served previously on the boards for the Midnight Sun Council, Scouts BSA, and the United Way of the Tanana Valley. He enjoys traveling, spending time and family and friends, and rooting for his alma maters.
