Leah Winters serves as a Research Assistant at the Cold Climate Housing Research Center, where they focus on public policy and political research related to housing in cold climate regions. Born and raised in South Florida, Leah developed a passion for political campaigns and local activism early on. This interest led them to pursue a degree in political science at Trinity College, where they graduated in 2024.
In 2022, Leah took a year off from their studies to serve as Deputy Data Director with the Florida Coordinated Campaign, where they gained experience in campaign data management and analysis. Now, they are excited to apply these skills to help the CCHRC advocate for the expansion of region-specific housing policy and housing assistance in Alaska and other regions facing similar challenges.

Leah believes that comfortable, healthy, and sustainable housing is a fundamental human right, and they are committed to advancing this mission at CCHRC. They are thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to the future of cold climate housing and to be living in Fairbanks for the year.
