Harvesting and Burning Wood the Smart Way

With a cold winter ahead and heating fuel prices on the rise, many Alaskans are looking more closely at wood heat. This class covers how to identify good firewood species and judge wood quality, where, when and how to harvest safely and sustainably, and how to properly season and store wood so it’s dry and ready to burn efficiently. We’ll also cover the basics of burning wood efficiently, including loading, airflow, and burn technique, to get more heat with less smoke and waste.
