Firewood harvesting permits are available from The State
of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources – The Tanana

Firewood cutting permits for dead and down Spruce and
ANY standing Birch, Aspen and Cottonwood are available at the
Fairbanks Area Forestry office located in the Department of Natural
Resources building located at the corner of Airport and University,
call 451-2600 during normal business hours. The cost is $5/cord
with a 3 cord minimum and 10 cord maximum/household/year. This wood
is for personal use only and may not be sold or
bartered.
The Fairbanks North Star Borough, Department of Land
Management – Is issuing firewood cutting permits on Borough
owned lands. Permits are issued at the Department of Land
Management, 2nd floor of the Borough Administrative Center, 809
Pioneer Road, Fairbanks, behind the News Miner Building. Permits
are $5/cord, up to 20 cords/person/year. There is no minimum. On
Borough owned lands a permit allows the user to take standing dead
and down Birch and Spruce and standing mature Birch. To contact the
