Aaron Cooke is a licensed Architect and leads the Sustainable Northern Communities Program at CCHRC.  Aaron has work experience across the Arctic, with projects in Alaska, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland, and Russia,testing new methods of building durable and energy efficient homes in circumpolar regions.  He has over a decade of architectural and project management experience for CCHRC in rural Alaska, including residential design and construction, construction management, housing analysis and remediation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, water and sanitation design, workforce training, and logistics/procurement management. He believes that northern environmental conditions and northern culture are inseparable and must both be equally reflected in architecture and design for it to be successful. He was born and raised in Alaska and has also lived in Siberia, Greenland, and Denmark.
