Alaska End-use Energy Efficiency Policy Report

This project will provide an updated and expanded set of policy recommendations for meeting Alaska’s energy goal of a 15% increase in energy efficiency by 2020. In 2008 CCHRC managed the production of the State of Alaska End-use Energy Efficiency Report with sub-contractors Information Insight and the Rocky Mountain Institute, which provided a review of polices and a set of recommendations for end-use energy efficiency for space heating and electrical power in the residential and commercial sectors. The goal of the 2011 update will be to both bring the report up-to-date, while emphasizing statewide issues, the electrical utility regulatory framework, and addressing both transportation and industrial efficiency as well. An interim report will be presented to the Alaska State Legislature by April 2011. The interim report will include a basic update to the 2008 report incorporating a review of what has been accomplished and what still needs to be done based on the 2008 recommendations. A final report will be completed by October 2011 and will include policy recommendations addressing residential and commercial building sectors, electrical utilities regulations, industrial efficiencies, and transportation.
